Face Lift (Rhytidectomy)
Changes related to age can occur in the upper, mid, and lower portions of the face. A variety of procedures can be used to target each of these areas. Procedures are often combined into one operation to get the best results for the patient. The upper face is usually freshened using a brow lift. The mid face lift specifically corrects the aging changes of the lower eyelids, cheeks and nasolabial regions. The lower face/neck lift has a stronger emphasis on the jowls and neck regions. Face and neck lift can help with the following problems:
Deep creases below the lower eyelids
Cheek fat that has descended instead of sitting high on the cheekbone
Jowling or marionette lines at the corner of the mouth
Loss of the neck definition with loose, sagging skin.
Procedure : Performed under conscious sedation or general anesthesia in an operating room setting.
Hospital stay: Outpatient/day case
Recovery: 2 to2-1/2 weeks with some swelling and bruising. Possibility of a garment, drains maybe placed for 1 to 3 days.
